Many of Montana streams are catch and release fishing. All anglers whether spin, bait or fly are encouraged to practice catch and release fishing.  The state enjoys some of the best wild populations of trout in the country.  It should be noted that many of Montana streams depend upon the snow pack.  In the last number of years drought has hurt some of the fishing in the state. However, 2010 so far looks like a good year for water in the West.
